Before and after

AT THE START - Existing plot was a barn conversion, built by the previous owner, a renowned architect set within surrounding grassland fields to the south and west with minimal garden directly beside the house.

BRIEF - A passionately keen gardener who was downsizing and wanted support with the landscaping layout and planting scheme of the garden.  The brief was to create a detailed, semi formal landscaped garden which was sympathetic to the surrounding countryside while creating a flowing journey around the whole garden site with a striking impact.

DESIGN PROCESS - The client had clear views of her vision so we worked closely together throughout the project along side her longstanding experienced gardener. Once we had developed the garden rooms and landscaped the structural layout it was a wonderful planting design project using the simple colour themes throughout. Moving from the simplistic soft white and green boarders (with multi layered seasonal planting) in the kitchen garden through to the formal pink and white rose garden in the main south garden. Throughout the garden we played with vistas to create depth using various mediums such as tree avenues, contemporary metal work to mirror the architectural work and formal mixed median hedging.

OVERVIEW - It was a hugely enjoyable project that was very much a joint effort and the on going love and attention that it has had has helped it show its full potential, even in its early years. Two years on it has stood up well to a family wedding in the Autumn.
