  • Site visits to discuss clients needs from garden function to style, timescale and budget
  • Site assessment to include survey, restraints, existing planting or structures
  • Drafting preliminary ideas and possible layouts
  • Liaising with clients to discuss and develop plans
  • Drafting and presenting the master plan
  • Drafting preliminary estimation of costs

The plan at the end of this stage provides a blueprint of the finished garden giving a visual overview of the project showing the character, materials, principal trees and hedges and planting area ideas. Implementation costs at this stage will be draft estimates, which allow the client to make informed decisions on how to proceed.

This stage provides far more detailed plans and specifications so the project can move forward, Rachael will manage the project working closely with the client and the contractors.

  • Detailed construction drawings and material specification required to finalise plans & produce realistic quotes
  • Selecting & coordinating suppliers & specialist contractors (if required)
  • Obtaining tenders as required
  • Site visits and project management/supervision as required

This stage covers the design of planting plans and sourcing plants from nurseries and includes:

  • Detailed planting plans
  • Plant schedules and specifications
  • Planting

Rachael works closely with many suppliers ensuring a high standard of plants and materials, this relationship also enables her to pass on any cost savings direct to you.


Once the garden is built planted and has matured it’s sometimes necessary to revisit to move overcrowded plants, fill any gaps or make alterations. Fees are charged on a time basis.
Rachael offers:
1) Monthly maintenance visits to keep your garden looking at its best all year round.
2) Seasonal maintenance in the spring and autumn to 'wake and close down' the garden.
3) Written consultancy to assist you in looking after your garden.


As each garden is bespoke fees vary according to size and work involved.
Rachael is aware of how important cost and budget is and is determined to give you value for money. She keeps clients notified so they know exactly how much the process costs at all stages and before they are committed. If there is anything you are unclear about please ask her as she is always realistic about budget.
She will produce plan, detailed works and project manage from start to finish or as required. Below are estimated costs which are very dependent on requirements, involvement and size of garden:
Rachael offers an initial free consultation lasting approximately one hour, this is a site visit to meet the client, view the garden/landscape and discuss their requirements. 

  • Free initial one hour consultation. If after this you do not feel you want to go forward any further with RWD then there is a fee of £55 to cover costs. 
  • Initial plans & mood boards from £500.
  • Master plans & 3D sketches from £700.
  • Planting plans from £550.
  • Planting & hardscape vary according to garden sizes and works.
  • RWD consultancy is charged on an hourly basis at £55 per hour. (includes: Site meetings, project management and maintenance consultancy) Travel is charged at £20 per hour
